JESSICA ROBBINS

It has been said that if you tipped the world on its side everything loose would land in Los Angeles. For a city that stirs up controversy at its mention, it is arguable that Los Angeles is an epicenter of visual stimulation and thankfully so. Having access to so many influences contributes to the broadening and expansion of experiences discovered here.

I approached this project with the intent to capture the richness of the multi-diverse Los Angeles lifestyle. I focused a lot of my attention on downtown specifically because within a short radius it is possible to enter abounding cultural microcosms with distinct imagery.

For me, there is no one thing that sums up living in Los Angeles. My appreciation for this city changes as the city changes. It’s impossible to be stagnant in L.A. when there is a piece of every part of the world to be found here. The difficulty of this project was not trying to shoot 36 glimpses of Los Angeles; the difficulty was condensing Los Angeles into just 36 frames.
